US Ambassador holds talks with TNA on political situation

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The United States (US) Ambassador to Sri Lanka Alaina B. Teplitz on Tuesday (06) met Opposition and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Leader R. Sampanthan to discuss the current political situation in the country.

“Met Leader of the Opposition Sampanthan to wish him a Happy Deepavali and to discuss the importance of Parliament reconvening immediately to end the political impasse. Also restated our commitment to Constitutional reform and other steps necessary for lasting reconciliation,” US Ambassador tweeted.

She also met the Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya separately to discuss the importance of Parliament reconvening “To put an end to this political crisis.”
