Naval, fishing communities cautioned as low pressure area likely to develop and move towards Sri Lanka

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A low pressure area is likely to develop over South-East Bay of Bengal sea area from Saturday (03), the Department of Meteorology said.

There is a possibility to move towards Sri Lanka while deepening later, therefore general public, Naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive about advisories issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regard further.

Showers or thunder showers will occur at times in Northern, Eastern, North-Central, and Uva Provinces.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere after 2.00 PM.

Heavy showers about 100 – 150 millimetres may occur at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-Western Provinces, particularly in Kegalle, Gampaha and Kurunegala Districts.

Fairly heavy showers about 75 millimetres may occur at some places in and Uva Province, and in Batticaloa, Ampara, Potuvil and Hambantota Districts.

Misty conditions may occur at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning.
