Two Persons arrested at BIA with foreign cigarettes

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Two persons had been arrested by the Customs officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) attempting to smuggle in foreign cigarettes from Singapore.

The two Sri Lankans aged 33 and 30 had hidden 72 cartons and 10 packets of foreign cigarettes hidden in their travelling bags.

Officials have found 14,500 sticks of cigarettes contained in them.

According to the customs officials the seized cigarettes are estimated be worth nearly Rs 725,000.
