Maximum retail price imposed on white sugar

(UTV|COLOMBO) – A maximum retail price has been imposed on white sugar, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said.

The CAA said that the maximum retail price has been imposed on packeted and non-packeted white sugar with effect from midnight today.

Accordingly the maximum retail price for a kilogram of non-packeted white sugar is Rs 100 and the maximum retail price for a kilogram of packeted white sugar is Rs 105.

The CAA also said that importers have been prohibited from selling or displaying for sale, white sugar at a price higher than Rs 92 per kg.
