10 dogs killed at Galewela; poisoning suspected

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The residents of Aluthwewa, Galewala lodged a complaint with the police over the suspicious deaths of some 10 dogs.

The locals discovered bodies of about 10 dogs scattered across the village this morning. Residents believe the dogs have been poisoned.

They alleged that the owners of a local animal farm who had reportedly killed dogs earlier by attacking and shooting them have killed these dogs by poisoning them.

Furthermore, the locals said the animal farm owners had threatened to attack and kill the dogs in the area, after complaints were lodged with the police.

The Galewala Police launched an investigation while the animal farm owners have been instructed to report to the police tomorrow morning.

The locals of the Galewela, Aluthwewa area insisted that strict legal action must be taken against the culprits. Police said further investigations regarding this issue were being carried out.
