PCoI decides not to summon AKD due to court hearing

UTV | COLOMBO – The Presidential Commission of Inquiry on Political Victimisation has informed the Court of Appeal that it will not summon Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Former Director of the Criminal Investigations Department Senior Superintendent of Police Shani Abeysekera and Senior Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara to the Commission until the conclusion of the hearing of the petition filed at the Appeals Court.

The notice was given to the Appeals Court bench comprising of Justices AHMD Nawaz and Sobitha Rajakaruna by State Counsel Uditha Igalahewa who represented the Commission in the case.

Summons were issued on the trio to appear before the Commission on Political Victimisation following a complaint lodge by Chairman of Avant Garde Maritime Services Nissanka Senadhipathi.

Subsequently, a petition was filed at the Appeals Court challenging the decision to issue summons by the Commission.

The petition will be taken up for hearing once again on the 29th of September.
