Five new COVID-19 cases identified yesterday

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Five new COVID-19 patients were detected in the country, yesterday.

Accordingly, the total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in Sri Lanka has risen to 2,042.

The Department of Government Information said two returnees from Bangladesh and three individuals who arrived from Pakistan recently, tested positive for COVID-19, yesterday.

Accordingly, 752 persons who returned from overseas recently have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country, while 904 Navy personnel have also contracted the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health also said the number of COVID-19 patients who recovered in Sri Lanka increased to 1,678 after 17 individuals were discharged from hospitals.

Accordingly, 353 COVID-19 patients are currently receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.

40 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under medical observation.
