Windy conditions in sea to continue

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Windy conditionover the sea area around the island is expected to continue until 18th February, Met Department says.

Showers will occur at several places in the sea area off the coast extending from Batticaloa to Hambantota via Potuvil. Mainly fair weather will prevail in other sea areas.

Winds will be north-easterly in direction and speed will be 30-40 kmph.

The deep and shallow sea area off the coast extending from Puttalam to Balapitiya via Colombo and in the deep and shallow sea area off the coast extending from Galle to Potuvil via Hambantota can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 60-70 kmph. The other sea areas around the island can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph.
