Protests in Jaffna demanding justice as post-mortem reveals 6-year old child strangled to death in Sulipuram

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The post-mortem conducted on the body of the 6-year old child at Sulipuram in Jaffna revealed she had been strangled to death.

According to the Police, four suspects were taken in for questioning on Tuesday (26) over the murder of Sivaneswaran Regina, a Grade 1 schoolgirl who was found murdered in the well.

Her parents raised a search in the neighbourhood for Regina as she did not return home from school. Failing to find her, they rallied the assistance of the neighbours and extended the search for the child. They later found the body of 6-year old Regina in a well around 200 meters away from her home.

Police is conducting thorough investigations in an angle that the child could have been murdered.

Protests were staged in Jaffna on Tuesday demanding justice for the child.
