“Fisheries activities are not affected by Port-City” – NARA research reveals

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Fisheries Ministry states the allegations made against Colombo Port City citing that fisheries activities are affected by its construction is false.

The ministry stated that special attention is drawn to such complaints from Western and Southern provinces.

Meanwhile, a broad research was conducted using Sonar sensors and a report was submitted to the ministry afterwards.

The research has confirmed that there is no possibility to cause any harm to fisheries activities.

National Aquatic Research Development Authority, in its research, has observed that sand dredging for Colombo Port City construction is carried out 10 kilometers away from the land and the tendency to harm sea life or any other aquatic resources is minimal.
