(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The Galle Road from the Galleface Roundabout to the Old Parliament Roundabout will be closed from 7 this morning till noon due to rehearsals for the 69th Independence Day celebrations.
The Police Headquarters said during this timeframe Chaithya Road will also be closed for traffic.
The stretch from the Galleface Roundabout to the Old Parliament Roundabout will be closed till noon till the 4th of February.
Heavy vehicles entering Colombo through Galle Road have been advised to resort to WA Silva Mawatha, Old Havelock Road, the Maya Roundabout, Havelock Road, Thimbirigasyaya Road and Baseline Road.
The Police added vehicles leaving Colombo can also utilise the same route.
Light vehicles and buses entering and leaving Colombo have been requested to use Galle Road, Bagatale Road, RA De Mel Mawatha, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Thunmulla, Thurston Road, JOC Junction, Glass House Junction, Nanda Motors, Horton Place Roundabout, Deans Road and Technical Junction.
