Update: Jaliya Wickramasuriya further remanded

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Former Sri Lanka Ambassador to the United States Jaliya Wickramasuriya arrested and remanded on charges of misusing state funds has been further remanded till the 9th of February.

The order was issued by Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne when the case was taken up for hearing this morning.

The Former Ambassador was arrested by the Police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) on the 18th of November 2016 on charges of misusing state resources amounting to 332,000 USD during the tenure of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) led government.
