Immediate steps for prevention of irregular waste disposal and Dengue prevention

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Cabinet of Ministers this week approved a joint proposal made by Minister Faizer Musthafa and Minister Sagala Rathnayake to implement several immediate steps for the prevention of irregular waste disposal in Colombo and suburbs and Dengue prevention.

These steps were decided at the meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremeinghe.

Accordingly, it was decided to install CCTV Cameras on Public places where waste is disposed irregularly. Installation of name boards with details of the owner or constructor in all construction sites in Colombo and Suburbs will also be made compulsory.

Meanwhile, private cases will be filed against persons responsible in maintaining dengue breeding sites in Schools, public Institutions and other organizations. Imposing of regulations to check houses and properties which are looked and taking legal action against them under Public Security Act was also decided.

In addition, relevant officers will be attached and facilities will be provided to the operating room to continue its task for 24 hours.
