“Division created problems: Int’l challenges should be faced as Sri Lankans” – Minister FAizer Musthapa

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – International challenges ahead of the country should be faced by all communities together as Sri Lankans, said Minster of Provincial Council and Local Government Faizer Musthapa this Morning in Vavuniya.

He said that there were problems in the past due to giving priority for one nation than the nationality when facing such challenges.

Minister Musthapa made these remarks addressing the opening ceremony of the new technical laboratory in the Kanagaraayankulam Maha Vidyalaya in Vavuniya.

He said that there was a distance among the communities for 30 years, and the present government is always giving its priority for the needs of the people who were suffering for 30 years. It is also one of the top priorities of the government to strengthen the ties between all communities as Sri Lankans.

The government and the opposition in the parliament have no clash today. That is why MP Sampanthan has become the opposition leader, minister added.

Speaking to the students, the minister said that the best weapon to eliminate poverty is education. He said that the government does not consider the race or the religion of the beneficiaries when the sources are shared. “We should stop thinking separately as Sinhalese, Tamils, and Muslims.”

Minister also said that he expected to bring a group of students of that school to Colombo for a cultural exchange program. Presents were also distributed among students.
