“Digital Economic Policy will be implemented in 2017” – Minister Harin Fernando

(UDHAYAM, DAVOS) – Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando explained the seven pillars introduced by the present government in order to establish a digital economy in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, Minister Fernando said the present administration mapped out what it wanted to achieve within the next 5 years.

Speaking at a press conference at the 2017 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Minister said key areas the government focused on were digital connectivity, a National Digital Identification for all citizens, a national payment platform, a single platform for the government to connect, digital security, digital legislation and digital education.

Minister Harin Fernando said all plans of the government will be rolled out in 2017.

The 2017 World Economic Forum commenced in Davos, Switzerland yesterday.
