Human Rights Commission begins probe into Kandakadu incident

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka has commenced an investigation into the incident that took place at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre on Tuesday.

Accordingly, a team of the Commission visited the Centre yesterday to conduct investigations.

Meanwhile, the number of escapees that were re-detained by Police is reported to have exceeded 600.

A number of escapees have been placed in remand custody while others are being held at the Polonnaruwa, Medirigiriya, Bakamuna and Minneriya Police stations to be produced before court.
