SC orders for investigation over Ratwatte Prison Fiasco

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Supreme Court today (21) has called for a prompt investigation into the incident involving the former State Minister of Prison Rehabilitation, Lohan Ratwatte at the Anuradhapura Prison.

Previously, eight inmates of the Anuradhapura Prison filed an FR petition seeking a ruling against their Fundamental Rights being violated when State Minister Lohan Ratwatte visited the Anuradhapura Prison on the 12th of September and pointed a pistol towards them, after threatening them.

The Supreme Court also ordered for the eight inmates to be moved to another prison.

The application by the prisoners will be taken up for examination on the 15th of February 2022.
