(UTV | SPAIN) – Spain’s captain Sergio Busquets has tested positive for COVID-19, eight days before their opening Euro 2020 game.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed on the news on Sunday evening and the Barcelona midfielder, who led his country to a 0-0 draw with Portugal on Friday, has now left Spain’s training camp.
The rest of the team have tested negative but close contacts of Busquets will have to isolate in accordance with the Spanish government’s and UEFA’s medical guidelines.
As a result, the Spain Under-21 side have been called up for the friendly against Lithuania on Tuesday.
Spain open their Euro 2020 campaign a week on Monday against Sweden.
