All 04 suspects in Moratuwa curfew violation remanded

All 04 suspects who were arrested by the Panadura Police for disobeying orders to stop at a checkpoint amidst curfew and were fired upon by Police in Egodauyana, have been remanded.

The Moratuwa Magistrates Court ordered the 4th suspect who was not injured in the incident to be remanded until the 8th of April.

Meanwhile two suspects who sustained injuries and were admitted to the Panadura hospital, have been remanded until the 8th of April by the Panadura Magistrate, whilst one individual who is receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital, has been remanded until the 17th of April by the Maligakanda Magistrates Court.

Police stated the suspects have been linked to drug racketeering.

Police opened fire at the vehicle they were travelling at the Modara Police road block in Egoda Uyana, Moratuwa around 10:20 on Thursday night.

Police said officers on duty at the roadblock in Modara, Moratuwa had been informed of the incident.

Accordingly, the vehicle had again been signaled to stopp by Police, but the driver once again failed to comply.

Police said subsequently an officer on duty had opened fire at the vehicle.
