Sri Lanka emerge champions of Police Cricket World Cup

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Sri Lanka Police emerged champions of the sixth Police Cricket World Cup played in England yesterday (Aug 17).

Sri Lanka, captained by assistant superintendent Kamal Pushpakumara emerged winners by beating Western Australia, registering the first ever police world cup win for the island.

Incidentally, this is the first occassion that an Asian country has been able to win the Police Cricket World Cup.

Police teams from England, Australia, Canda, and Ireland played for the silverware during the tournament.
