(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has urged authorities to ensure the safety of all Sri Lankans and combat the rising tide of violence, extremism and hate speech.
The 57-member country organisation said the continuous violence in the island is spreading fear and mistrust amongst communities of Sri Lanka.
In a statement the OIC said it firmly opposes terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations.
It also condemned the multiple cowardly attacks carried out last month on churches and hotels across Sri Lanka.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation added the OIC has also been closely monitoring the latest attacks that have taken places in several parts of Sri Lanka.
The OIC urged the Sri Lankan authorities to combat the situation and maintain law and order.
