(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Four students who participated in the protest march organized by Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) were arrested yesterday (13th Monday).
Three other students were hospitalized with injuries.
The march commenced at University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Colombo, and ended near the Presidential Secretariat.
However, police barricaded the road at Lotus Roundabout and students attempted to forcefully surpass them, which led to a water and tear gas attack.
Fort magistrate Lanka Jayaratne issued a court order preventing the protest demonstration by the students and its document was handed over to the students who tore it into pieces.
