Plantation workers’ wages to increase through budgetary allocation

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Government has agreed to increase the daily wage of plantation workers through budgetary allocation, the Leader of the Democratic People’s Front (DPF) and Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), Minister Mano Ganesan said.

Accordingly, the plantation workers’ wages will be increased through the next budget and this increase is effective from February 2019.

Ganesan made these remarks following a discussion between the TPA, the Minister of Plantation Industries Navin Dissanayake, and the Non-Cabinet Minister of Labour and Trade Union Relations Ravindra Samaraweera which held under the purview of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday (12).
