the wake of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) supporting the National People’s Power (NPP) to form the administration of the Beruwala Urban Council, Cabinet spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said the NPP has not struck any deals with any political parties.
He said the SJB formed the administration of the Beruwala Pradeshiya Sabha with only 10 councillors out of 43 and that the same tactic used by the NPP to form the administration of the Beruwala Urban Council with three members.
He said the SJB General Secretary had informed in writing to the councillors of the Urban Council not to vote for the councillor nominated by the NPP for the chairnaship and that however, the SJB councillors voted for the NPP chairman.
The Minister said the NPP has not come to any agreement with other political parties to form the administrations in local bodies and that in certain councils, opposition members had supported the NPP on their own
