Use of 6 plastic based products to be banned from tomorrow

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Environment stated that the steps would be taken to ban the production of 6 types of plastic and polythene based products for local use with effect from tomorrow (31).

Accordingly, disposable polythene and plastic, inflatable toys, lunch sheets less than 20 microns, PET plastic bottles (Polyethylene Terephthalate), and sachets (Non-food and non-pharmaceutical) will come under ban.

However, the Ministry stressed that there would be no restrictions on the export of these products.
