(UTV | COLOMBO) – A new luxury train will begin operations between Colombo and Anuradhapura this morning.
Minister of Transport and Highways Bandula Gunawardena said the ‘Rajarata odyssey’ will facilitate the 100s of pilgrims commuting to Anuradhapura to visit sacred sites during weekends.
Accordingly, the ‘Rajarata odyssey’ will leave the Colombo Fort Railway station at 9.30am on Saturdays and reach the Anuradhapura station at 1pm.
The train will depart Anuradhapura to Colombo at 5pm on Sundays.
It is expected to reach the Colombo Fort Railway station at around 9.14pm.
The 480-seat train will operate every weekend from today.
