Politicians should ensure no health guidelines are violated during election: GMOA

(UTV | COLOMBO) – The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said all candidates contesting the upcoming General Elections and all political party leaders should sign a legal document ensuring that no health guidelines on COVID-19 would be violated during the course of election.

It said that the responsibility of formulating and directing these guidelines falls on the shoulders of the health officials and the government should therefore supply all necessary protective equipment and provide transport facilities as required.

Moreover, the association said the government should provide the necessary facilities in carrying out public programmes based on practicality while ensuring the safety of the public.
