‘National programme must for national govt’

UTV | COLOMBO – Former United National Party Parliamentarian Wajira Abeywardana says a national government cannot be formed without a national programme.

Addressing media in Galle he said a national government was formed to initiate a national programme.

Abeywardana added there is no possibility of creating a government without such a plan and without sitting down at the same table for discussions over the course of several months, with the aim of reaching agreements.

Therefore, he said a national government must possess a national plan or programme, one which both sides can discuss agreements and disagreements and reach a common middle ground.

The former MP stated that when such a backdrop is created and such a national programme is presented, then steps can be taken to carry the programme forward for betterment of the country.
