Indian jailed over vandalising statue dies in prison

(UTV | KURUNEGALA) – Indian national remanded for allegedly damaging a statue in Kuliyapitiya, died at the Wariyapola Hospital, the Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya said.

The Kuliyapitiya Police arrested the suspect last month on charges of damaging a statue in Rathmale Watta.

The suspect came to Sri Lanka about 16-years-ago and had married a Sri Lankan woman.
