Free entry for children and elders to Zoos today

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation, has given the Department of National Zoological Parks instructions to allow kids and people over 60 to access all zoological gardens for free on October 1.

The Zoological Department has thus taken action to ensure that youngsters and elderly citizens are given free entry to all zoos today.

The agency also announced that, in conjunction with Children’s Day celebrations, a number of educational programmes have been planned in zoological gardens to teach kids about animals.

Today, Sri Lanka celebrates both Children’s Day and the International Day for Older Persons.

To commemorate Children’s Day, a number of events will be placed across the nation.
