COVID-19 infections in Sri Lanka rise to 1,884

(UTV | COLOMBO) – Another individual has contracted the novel coronavirus in Sri Lanka.

Accordingly, four persons have test positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, today, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,884.

The Government Information Department said two recent arrivals from Qatar who were held at a quarantine facility in Ampara and a person who returned from Chennai, India and held at a centre in Katukeliyawa tested positive for COVID-19 today.

Meanwhile, a Navy personnel who was held at a quarantine centre in Mullaitivu also confirmed to have contracted the novel coronavirus.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health said at present, 621 COVID-19 patients are receiving medical treatment at 11 hospitals across the country.

Meanwhile, 56 persons who contracted the novel coronavirus were discharged from hospitals after making a full recovery.

Accordingly, the number of persons who have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19 has increased to 1,252.

63 persons who are suspected to have contracted the virus are also under observation.
