Police Sergeant remanded till 09th over unruly behaviour at Thebuwana Junction

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Police Sergeant arrested for displaying unruly behaviour at Thebuwana Junction remanded until 9th October by Matugama magistrate Court today (04).

The police sergeant has been suspended yesterday (03) for unruly behaviour whilst carrying a firearm at Tembuvana in Kalutara, as he yelled that he would shoot himself unless justice was meted out to him.

The police sergeant said that although he had apprehended a vehicle that transported sand illegally, he was not given the opportunity to enforce law against the offence.

Minister of Law and Order Ranjith Maddumabandara said, that instruction officials have been instructed to submit a report in relation to the mental state of the officer concerned.
