CID seeks raw video footage of Namal Kumara media briefing

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court on Monday (17) ordered four media corporations to submit raw video footage of the media briefing where Namal Kumara revealed the details of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) attached to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) Nalaka De Silva informing him of an assassination plot on the lives of President and former Defence Secretary.

The Operations Director of the Anti-Corruption Force Namal Kumara appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record a statement pertaining to investigations into the matter Monday morning.

Convening a media briefing last week in Kandy, Namal Kumara revealed of a plan to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and the former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa by using underworld criminal ‘Makadure Madush’ who is absconding Court at the moment.

The Operations Director also released several recordings of phone conversations with DIG Nalaka De Silva.

The CID requested Namal Kumara to hand over his mobile device for examinations.
