Japan names Akira Sugiyama as new Ambassador to Sri Lanka

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Japanese Government decided at a Cabinet meeting on Tuesday (28) on the appointments of new Ambassadors to Sri Lanka, Cameroon, the Marshall Islands and Ethiopia, effective Thursday, the Jiji Press reported.

Akira Sugiyama, 57, will be Ambassador to Sri Lanka. He has served as Minister at the Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) in New York, as well as Head of the Yamagata Prefectural Police and Chief of Protocol at the Foreign Ministry.
