Possibility of increasing wind speed still high – Met. Department

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The possibility of increasing wind speed is still high over the island and surrounding sea areas, particularly in the sea areas to the South-East and North-West of the country, the Department of Meteorology said on Wednesday (08).

Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50 kmph can be expected in Central hilly areas and in Uva, Sabaragamuwa, Northern, North-Central, Southern, Eastern, and North-Western Provinces.

Showers at times in Galle and Matara Districts.

Several spells of showers will occur in Sabaragamuwa, Central, Western and North-Western Provinces. Fairly heavy falls about 50 mm can be expected at some places in Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts.
