President to deliver Special speech today at Committee on Forestry & 6th World Forest Week in Rome

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena today (16) will address the 24th session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO) and the 6th World Forest Week  organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations scheduled to begin today.

The 24th session of COFO and the 6th World Forest Week will explore the contributions that forests can make to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

President Maithripala Sirisena attend this conference in an environment where the government has taken policy decisions to increase the forest density of the country from 29% to 32% as well as in a background where numerous steps have been taken in this regard.
