GMOA warns to launch island-wide strike

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) stated that it will launch an island-wide strike based on several unresolved issues faced by Doctors.

Issuing a statement, the GMOA stressed that solutions had not been provided thus far although a letter including 10 demands has been sent to President Maithripala Sirisena and other relevant Officials.

The GMOA said as a result the Executive Board will convene today (16) while the Central Committee will convene on 19 July to discuss further measures to be taken.

A final decision regarding the strike will be made following the two meetings, the GMOA added.
