Joint Opposition prepares for mass rally on Aug. 17

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Joint Opposition is preparing for a mass rally on 17 August to be staged against the Government.

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa tweeted saying that on 17 August, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna members, all Joint Opposition parties and trade unions will stage a mass protest against the continued hardship of the Sri Lanka people as a result of Government policies and practices.

“It’s time for the peoples’ voices to be heard,” Namal Rajapaksa tweeted.

He also said that productive and focused organisational meetings were held with Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) members and joint opposition candidates in preparation for the mass protest against the Government on 17 August.
