India’s Lok Sabha Speaker to visit Sri Lanka for summit

(UTV|COLOMBO) – India’s Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan is attending a two-day South Asian Speakers’ Summit in Colombo in Sri Lanka on achieving sustainable development goals.

Promoting regional parliamentary cooperation for sustainable, equitable and green economic growth, is the theme of the third edition of the summit, the Press Trust of India reported.

Besides Mahajan, representatives from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will deliberate on the subject.

Mahajan will be accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Bhubaneshwar Kalita and Lok Sabha Secretary-General Snehlata Shrivastava, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said in a statement.

An outcome document will also be adopted after the conclusion of the summit.
