Water supply disrupted by worker strike

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Chairman of the Engineering Diploma Holders Association of Water Supply and Drainage Board, Upali Rathnayake says that water supply has been disrupted due to trade union action launched by his association.

However, Water Supply and Drainage Board chairman A.A. Anzar said that there is no such disruption to water supply.

The trade union action was launched jointly by the Engineering Diploma Holders Association and Technical Officers Association on February 9th.

They launched the strike against downgrading their service status and curtailing privileges.

Chairman Upali Rathnayake said that water supply has been disrupted in Matara, Weligama, Karagoda, Uyangoda and Mirissa.
