Influenza in Bibila area completely controlled- DG HS Dr. Bandara

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – Prevalence of the Influenza A(H1N1) in Bibila and Medagama MOH divisions have been controlled completely, the Director General of Health Services Dr. Jayasundara Bandara said.

According to the Health sources 30 patients with the disease have been admitted to the Bibila Base Hospital from 27th January to 8th February. Four of them are pregnant mothers and five are children. Blood sample of these patients have been sent to the Medical Research Institute in Borella.

A few patients who received treatment from hospital have already been discharged and no deaths are reported so far. The Health Ministry has taken steps to provide necessary medicines without any shortage, the DG said.

Dr. Bandara further said that the climatic situation prevailing in December and January has caused the prevalence of the virus which has caused this disease.
