President suspends high-ranking Officials arrested over Rs. 20 million bribe

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena’s Chief of Staff and the Chairman of the Timber Corporation have been arrested over bribery allegations on Thursday (03).

The Bribery Commission arrested the President’s Chief of Staff Dr. I. H. K. Mahanama and the Chairman of the State Timber Corporation P. Dissanayake while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20 million.

President Sirisena said the Bribery Commission is acting independently and suspended two high-ranking Officials charged with soliciting and accepting bribe from an Indian investor.
