“Legal action against errant traders” – Rishad Bathiudeen

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – The minister of Industry and Commerce – Risath Bathiudeen today (03) said that strict legal measures will be taken against errant traders who are violating the price cap issued by the ministry for rice.

Speaking at an event at the BMICH, Colombo, the minister said that after talks with the President, Prime Minister and several ministers, it was decided to reduce the price of a rice kilo to Rs. 66.

“Although we have imposed a control price, the traders do not follow it. I have ordered the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) to take strict measures against such traders. The law will be strictly adhered to from today onwards,” he said.
