Two Bangladesh Naval ships arrive at Colombo Port

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Two ships of the Bangladesh Navy ‘Ali Haider’ and ‘Nirmul’ arrived at the port of Colombo on Wednesday (07) on a goodwill visit. The ships were ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with Naval traditions on their arrival. Officials of Bangladesh High Commission in Sri Lanka also attended the occasion.

BNS ‘Ali Haider’ which is 103.22m in length and 10.83m width has got a crew of 200 Naval personnel onboard while 64.2m long and 9m wide BNS ‘Nirmul’ is comprised of a crew of 70.

The ship’s Commanding Officers, Captain ASM Afzalul Haque and Commander ANM Ishtiaq Jahan Farouqee called on the Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Command, Commodore Sanath Uthpala at the Western Naval Command Headquarters. They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos to mark the occasion. The two ships on a three-day official visit, are scheduled to depart the island on 9th February.
