Southern Provincial Council Rumble-Over Croton and Kos-Kola

(UDHAYAM, COLOMBO) – A tense situation arose at the Southern Provincial Council today when its members brought jackfruit leaves, croton leaves and grass into its premises.

United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Saliya Mendis has first entered wearing a garland made of jackfruit leaves and council members have poked fun at him.

UPFA members have joined in by protesting with jackfruit and croton leaves. They claimed that the government has failed to prepare for the drought.

Later United National Party (UNP) members has brought grass and claimed that the ones who demonstrated jackfruit and croton leaves should consume them. The incident caused a tense situation at the council, reportedly.
