New passport from next year – Controller of Immigration and Emigration

(UTV|COLOMBO) – Department of Immigration and Emigration is taking steps to introduce an internationally recognized passport which is on par with the standards of International Civil Aviation Services Organization.

According to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration M.N. Ranasinghe, it will be introduced by the end of 2018.

A UK firm, De La Rue, which is situated at Biyagama Export Processing Zone has been chosen to print the new passport.

He also said all planned changes have already been approved by the Cabinet.
