North-Eastern monsoon becomes active

UTV | COLOMBO – Met Department says that the North-Eastern monsoon may establish in next few days over the country.

As a result, several spells of showers will occur in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces, it said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2 pm.

Fairly heavy falls of about 75mm can be expected at some places particularly in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50kmph can be expected in the Northern, North Central and Central provinces.

The Met Office also said that misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Western, North-western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning.
