Another strike looming!

UTV | COLOMBO – A fast launched by the trade unions of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has been held for a 3rd day today (13).

They have launched this citing that only authorities have got their salaries increased while abolishing medical and bonus allowances of other staff.

The Secretary of Lanka Viduli Sevaka Sangamaya, Ranjan Jayalal said they would resort to launch a strike if this matter was not solved.

Meanwhile, trade union alliance of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation is planning to commence a strike with the support of several other trade unions.

Its Convener D. J. Rajakaruna has told to media that they would discuss with political parties in future about their plans as there are plans yet again to sell the Trincomalee Oil Tank farm to India.

The CPC trade unions staged a strike earlier too on the same matter.

Meanwhile, the doctors of Kinniya Hospital in Trincomalee commenced a strike action yesterday, urging the authorities to solve an issue relating to post-intern doctor appointments.

The doctors of Muttur Hospital joined the strike today and the Government Medical Officers’ Association said tomorrow all the hospitals in Trincomalee would join the agitation tomorrow (14).
