New High Court to be constructed in Matale

(UTV|COLOMBO) – The Ministry of Justice has taken steps to construct a High Court in the Matale District.

This initiative has been taken after taking into consideration the hardships that residents of Matale have to undergo.

According to the Secretary to the Ministry, Padmasiri Jayamanne, the people of Matale have to travel to Kandy for High Court trials.

Matale is the only Administrative District in the country without High Courts.

The construction of the High Court is set to begin next month.

Meantime, a Magistrate’s Court is also scheduled to be established in Laggala.

Furthermore, reports emerge that the current Tourist Magistrate’s Court building will be inundated by the Moragahakanda Reservoir in the coming days.
