First phase of the Colombo’s pavement project vested with the public

(UTV|COLOMBO) – President Maithripala Sirisena vested the first phase of the project to construct pavements for the pedestrians to walk safely avoiding main roads and heavy traffic congestion in Colombo Fort and Pettah areas, with the public on Thursday (23). Under the first phase the constriction works of the roadway and pavement from the Lake House in D. R. Wijewardena Mawatha to Olcott Mawatha was completed.

The first phase of the project has been completed at a cost of Rs.17 million under the Metro Colombo Urban Development Project under the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development. The Sri Lanka Navy has provided labour for this project.

President Sirisena cutting the ribbon opened the pavement for the public use.

Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, Secretary to the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development Nihal Rupasinghe and others were present at this occasion.
